Operations Manager
Department: Operations
Location: Lenoir, North Carolina
SUMMARY This position is responsible for plant operations, including but not limited to safety, maintenance, and production on both shifts and working with other departments to ensure consistent and efficient operation.
CONNECTION TO MISSION Assists in providing consistent, quality production throughout all shifts and lines. This employee will support all safety programs, policies and procedures, and have a personal value system that will assist in creating a work environment that is based on trust, human dignity, and honesty, which in turn will contribute to a high quality of life for all employees.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to, the following:

  1. Monitor production results daily (KPI, MSA, PPMH, YIELD, FILL RATES)
  2. Watch inventory levels and age of raw materials; rework daily
  3. Manage/teach supervisors and managers
  4. Working to make efficient schedules
  5. Observe product quality
  6. Inform general manager of opportunities
  7. Report results, projects, etc. to management
  8. Help plan and implement new technology, automation, and other improvements
  9. Provide consistency of production
QUALIFICATIONSTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) from four-year college or university that has been accredited by the Department of Education; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
VERBAL/WRITTEN SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence and organize concepts on paper. Ability to speak effectively to employees of organization.
INFORMATION SYSTEM SKILLS Ability to learn and perform more complex Ross computer commands and routines. Ability to demonstrate more advanced use of computers including sound understanding of networks, Internet, and beyond basic word processing and spreadsheet usage skills.
REASONING/DECISION MAKING SKILLS
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Responsible for technical understanding of job specific decisions.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will occasionally be exposed to wet or humid conditions (non-weather); fumes or airborne particles; extreme cold and heat (non-weather); and vibration. The employee will regularly be required to work near moving mechanical parts. The amount of noise typical for the work environment of this job is usually loud.

Internal: Employees on the production line and plant management
External: USDA
Supervision of Personnel:
Directly supervises Production Superintendents and subordinate supervisors who in turn supervise up employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
